Description
Create a cosy habitat for our precious native bees these school holidays at Newport Lakes Reserve. In this hands–on nature workshop, children will learn about Australia’s incredible stingless native bees and the important role they play in pollinating our bushland.
Try your hand at using tools to build and construct a native bee hotel. Children will make their native bee habitat using various natural and recycled materials as well as learn how to safely use tools such as a drill and hammer to help develop fine motor skills. Our native bee habitats are good for hibernation and breeding in warmer months.
Eco Explorers is an all-weather outdoor program, so it is important to wear appropriate weather protection and clothing. Our program will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather warning, such as fire, storm, high temperatures, or strong wind.
Ages: 3 – 8 years (siblings under 12 months are welcome to attend for free).
*Parents are responsible for their children at all times and are encouraged to join in on the fun!Â
