Mushroom Reef is a beautiful rockpool oasis located in Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula famous for its diversity of marine life, including sheltered rock pools, coves and a shallow reef on the ocean side as well as sandstone rock platforms extending from the shore.
Come and join us for a fun-filled morning of nature connection, rock pool exploration and learning, games, activities, stories and song at Mushroom Reef. The children will also learn about the amazing marine life that inhabits Mushroom Reef and ways they can protect it. With a low tide, we’ll be finding beach treasures and fossils to create beautiful beach mandalas with seaweeds and shells classified in shape and colour.
Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.
Our workshop facilitator Alison is a qualified Primary and Secondary School Teacher, who has experience working with kids with special needs, as well as being involved in helping set up natural play spaces for her local kindergarten and playgroup for many years.
This beach themed nature play morning will be a sensory delight for little ones with plenty of opportunities for imaginative play, creating and discovering around the rock pools and beach.
Ages: 2 – 6 years (siblings under 14 months are welcome to attend for free).
