  •  12/07/2018
     9:30 am - 12:00 pm

It’s time to get kids off the screens and into our Bush Kids – Forest School these school holidays! They’ll learn life skills and how to use real tools while making friends and building confidence.

Join us for this hands-on workshop as we embark on a bush adventure like no other! The kids will learn bush skills such as how to tie various rope knots and then design and construct their own mini boat or raft. This workshop involves plenty of construction and creativity and they will be sourcing and using all natural materials. Then we’ll head off for a bush walk to learn all about the animals and bugs that live at Gresswell Forest and of course, try out our boats. Will they sail or will they sink? Let’s see!

This forest school holiday workshop is being held at Gresswell Forest in Macleod and is a great opportunity for children to be outdoors, in nature, learning real skills with real tools and making useful things.

This workshop facilitator is Penny and Adam.  Penny is a qualified primary school teacher and forest leader who has been running bush playgroups at Gresswell Forest for nearly 2 years. She has a passion for connecting children to nature and does so through creative activities, stories, and games.

Adam spent his entire childhood in the bush, living off-grid, climbing mountains, playing in rivers, learning to fish, track, make fires and simplify ‘being’ in nature. He now hopes to share his childhood experiences with the next generation to inspire a deep connection to nature. He has a background in Outdoor Education and enjoys camping, rock climbing, and meditation.

The children can work both independently and as a team and take these skills home with them that can use anytime in the bush.

Ages: 4 – 12 years

Childen over 6 years can attend without parents.
