It’s time to get the kids off the screens and into our Bush Kids Forest School Program these school holidays! They’ll learn life skills and how to use real tools while making friends and building confidence.
Join us in this hands-on workshop where kids learn essential rope and bush skills such as tying various rope knots, learning to make their own cordage and then making constructions out of sticks, branches and wood. The kids will start off with simple designs and then build more elaborate constructions. The possibilities for creations are endless and some examples of the things they may make are; rope swings, ladders, seats, cubbies, weaving frames, necklaces, mini boats/rafts and baskets.
This workshop is run by Adam and Katie.
Adam is the founder of Eco Explorers and has been delivering bush programs to families for over two years. He spent his entire childhood living and camping in the bush; climbing mountains, exploring rivers, learning to fish, track, make fires and to simplify… just ‘being’ at one in nature. Adam now hopes to share his childhood & adult experiences with the next generation to inspire a deep connection with nature. He has a background in Outdoor Education and enjoys camping, bushcraft, rock climbing, and meditation.
Katie is a passionate environmental educator and scientist who has over 20 years experience running environmental education programs. She is currently completing her studies in Early Childhood Education and has many years bush experience while conducting field research ‘off the beaten track’ in remote farming, forested and desert landscapes.
By giving children small achievable tasks to complete, they learn to become more independent while developing self-esteem and learning to assess risk and make sensible and informed decisions about how to deal with unfamiliar and unpredictable situations. The children will work both independently and as a team and take these skills home with them that can use anytime in the bush.
Ages: 5 – 12 years
*Parents are required to stay and supervise their child unless they are staying for the full day and have booked the drop off option which also includes our woodworking afternoon workshop.
