Come and join us for a morning of winter lantern making at Ceres Environmental Park in Melbourne’s Brunswick East. We’ll be set up in the African village and will be teaching children how to make their very own winter lanterns. The children will also learn how to safely use tools such as hammers.
We will have both recycled lanterns and tin lanterns available so that the activity suits young and older kids. Children will be so proud of their creation which they can then take home and light up for the winter sky!
Research clearly shows that the more time children spend outdoors, then better they are prepared for school and life. Spending time outdoors is essential for normal development and a healthy childhood.
This workshop will be led by Melinda and Adam. Melinda is the founder of Eco Explorers and Forest School Leader who has also trained in Nature Pedagogy under Claire Warden.
Adam spent his entire childhood in the bush, living off-grid, climbing mountains, playing in rivers, learning to fish, track, make fires and simplify ‘being’ in nature. He now hopes to share his childhood experiences with the next generation to inspire a deep connection to nature. He has a background in Outdoor Education and enjoys camping, rock climbing and meditation.
