Do you have a curious child? A child that loves ADVENTURE, CLIMBING, LEARNING and searching for BUGS? Then this workshop is just for you!
Children will go on an adventure searching for clues that tell us about all the wonderful mini-beasts and habitats that live in the bush at Arthurs Seat, just like real detectives! They will learn about life cycles, food webs, ecosystems, plants, fungi, bugs, and insects such as spiders, snails, millipedes, slaters and much, much more than live beneath our feet. We just need to get down low and LOOK! Be prepared to get dirty and muddy!
The children will also get to create their own minibeasts using clay and natural materials to take home after a busy morning of exploring and play outdoors.
This workshop is run by Alison, a primary school teacher and bush playgroup facilitator who has been running weekly outdoor workshops at Arthurs Seat for 8 months. Alison is passionate about getting families outdoors, into nature and learning all about our natural environment and it’s creepy crawlies.
Our school holiday program aims to inspire creativity, a natural curiosity and enriching sensory play experience while following your child’s interests at all times. We also ensure that children learn to use their bodies so that they develop strength, good balance and coordination while learning to take safe risks with guidance and support from the educators.
