Minibeasts Workshop – Newport Lakes

  •  05/10/2018
     10:00 am - 12:00 pm

Come and join us for a fun morning of nature connection, exploration, learning, nature craft, stories, song and bushwalking at the stunning Newport Lakes Reserve. The sessions are led by experienced educators and the sessions are fun, relaxed and child led.

This session will be all about the wonderful crawly creatures that we find in the bush! The kids will go on a bug and nature scavenger hunt and learn all about these fascinating creatures through fun games and activities. There will be lots of sensory nature play, a craft activity to make your own creepy crawling bugs, as well as our popular mix and play, mud kitchen, a nature craft activity and Australian story, followed by a bush walk to the pond in search of water critters. Each session has a different theme and activity so you can come for all of them!

Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.

This workshop is run by  Adam.

Adam is the founder of Eco Explorers and has been delivering bush programs to families for over two years. He spent his entire childhood living and camping in the bush; climbing mountains, exploring rivers, learning to fish, track, make fires and to simplify… just ‘being’ at one in nature. Adam now hopes to share his childhood & adult experiences with the next generation to inspire a deep connection with nature. He has a background in Outdoor Education and enjoys camping, bushcraft, rock climbing, and meditation.

Our bush programs are an all weather outdoor program so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Children must have closed footwear when walking in the bush, sun hats, sunscreen, wet weather gear, plenty of snacks and water and a change of clothes. Our program will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather warning; fire, storm, high temperatures and strong wind.

Ages: 1 – 6 years (siblings under 12 months are welcome to attend for free).

*Parents are responsible for their children at all times.

We're sorry, but all tickets sales have ended because the event is expired.
