Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary, located just near Beaumaris, south-east of Melbourne is the perfect place to introduce kids to the wonders of underwater marine life. The area offers a diverse range of habitats with its rock pools and bushland close to shore.
Come and join us for a morning of nature connection, rock pool exploration, bush walking and learning at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary. Our nature based school holiday program offers you the best of nature play in a relaxed, supportive and positive environment. The children will learn important bush skills such as bush tucker, snake safety in summer, Indigenous history and all about the fascinating marine life at Ricketts Points through various activities, crafts, stories and games. They will do a bush walk and rockpool ramble and learn to identify various creatures that live there. They will discuss environmental issues affecting our marine environment and how they can all help to protect it.
Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.
Our workshop facilitator, Pascale, is a qualified horticulturalist and linguist who has experience working with children delivering gardening and sustainability programs in kindergarten and schools. Pascale has extensive knowledge of Australian flora and fauna, and a deep passion for sharing her knowledge of Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung culture and languages. She is a keen snorkeller at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary and has great knowledge of the local area and its marine life.
