Join us for a morning at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary as we go on a nature scavenger hunt, explore the rockpools and get crafty making clay sea creatures! Ricketts Point is the perfect place to introduce kids to the wonder of Victoria’s underwater marine life. Sandstone platforms are home to an array of marine creatures and are excellent for rockpool exploration.
Come and join us for a interactive workshop out on the rockpools discovering the magnificent marine, sharing stories and then getting crafty, making your own rockpool to take home! With a low tide, the kids will start off with a marine scavenger hunt and learn all about the fascinating creatures at Ricketts Point Marine Sanctuary. They will enjoy some marine-focused nature craft activities on return and find out how they can help protect our marine life.
Our program has been developed to give your child optimum opportunity to build their gross motor and physical skills through climbing, balancing, walking and fine motor skills during our craft activities. Research clearly shows that the more time your child spends in nature, the better they are prepared for school, both physically and emotionally.
Our workshop facilitator Diana lives locally and has a wealth of knowledge to share about marine life with her groups.
As a marine sanctuary, all marine animals, birds, and plant life are protected, and may not be caught or removed from the Sanctuary. The sandstone platforms and reefs are very fragile and home to many sea creatures. Please wear soft shoes and tread carefully if you walk on the platforms and reefs.
Ages: 3 – 8 years (siblings under 14 months are welcome to attend for free).
