Description
Join us at Yarra Bend Park in Kew for our exciting Bush Kids program, where we’ll dive into the fascinating world of the Grey-headed flying fox colonies that call this area home. Get ready for a hands-on experience as we observe these incredible creatures and discover their unique features! Our workshop will include a nature walk and an activity – nature journaling about the Grey-headed flying fox.
These native megabats roost in Yarra Bend Park, with their colony numbers soaring to around 35,000 during the summer and dwindling to about 1,000 in the winter months. Much like human “grey nomads,” these bats migrate north when the weather gets chilly and return when it warms up. They enjoy roosting in prime locations and are quite sociable! Join us to learn more about these remarkable animals, their habitats, and how you can contribute to protecting the environment.
With Eco Explorers environmental educator Emma leading the adventure, this workshop encourages children to connect with nature.
