Description
Join us for a full day of hands-on learning, creativity and adventure at our Boats, Knots & Construction Forest School workshop at Lysterfield Lake Park. Located in Melbourne’s south-east at the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges.
This rewilding school holiday program invites children to dive into the world of bush engineering as they learn essential knot-tying skills, design and build their own bush boats, shelters and structures using natural materials and tools. With plenty of time for nature play, bush exploration and teamwork, this workshop encourages problem-solving, resilience and connection to Country while empowering children to create with their hands and imaginations in the great outdoors.
Some of the other activities that the children may also do at forest school are;
-
- Bush navigation using maps and identifying symbols/landmarks in the area.
- Learn rope knots and construction.
- Build boats
- Bush survival and snake safety.
- Nature connection games
- Eco art & craft
Our team of highly experienced forest school educators will support your child’s learning so that they become more confident, curious, and capable and are taught to learn how to take safe risks in the bush through climbing, building and using real tools. They will also discover and learn about our natural environment and it’s fascinating wildlife.
The forest school is held at Lysterfield Lake and led by Anne early childhood educator Anne.
Forest school Melbourne is an all-weather outdoor program so you need to make sure you bring appropriate weather protection and clothing. Our program will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather warning; fire, storm, high temperatures and severe wind.
