Description
With its piercing screeching and chattering sounds and bright colours, the Rainbow Lorikeet is a parrot native to Australia. They are known for their striking plumage, which features a rainbow of colours including blue, green, yellow, orange, and red. These social birds are often found in flocks and are highly active and playful.
Rainbow lorikeets have a brush-like tongue adapted for feeding on nectar, pollen, and fruits. They prefer Eucalyptus and Banksia flowers but will also eat sap and berries from these plants, and sometimes even insects that visit these flowers to feed themselves.
We’ve provided a template for you to print and cut out which you can stick to cardboard and then decorate.
Materials: template, glue, scissors, cardboard, feathers, coloured wool or paint.
Instructions:
- First print your Rainbow lorikeet template and cut out the body parts.
- Now find some cardboard or even bark or a stick to stick the wings, head and tail onto to.
- Before you stick the pieces on, you may want to paint or decorate your bird. If you have feathers, you can stick them on over the bird.
- Now it’s time to stick the wings and body parts and let your bird take flight!
